20th annual Hospice Taste of the Town
August 19, 2008 Hospice Taste of the Town is the annual, primary fundraiser for Hospice of the Piedmont. More than 50 restaurants, caterers and beverage services are expected to participate again this year, serving a diverse selection of dishes. Musical entertainment and children’s activities are also a highlight of the evening. A large silent auction provides those attending the opportunity to bid on a wide array of items and services in all price ranges throughout the evening. This year, 2008, marks the 20th Anniversary of Taste of the Town! Last year, the event was attended by nearly 5,000 food fans and more than $130,000 was raised for Hospice. The Hospice philosophy is that no terminally ill person be denied care, regardless of financial resources. However, some patients do not qualify for any reimbursement through Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance, and lack personal funds to pay for care. That’s why community support at Hospice Taste of the Town is so vital. Funds raised also help support the Grief Counseling and Kids Path programs at Hospice of the Piedmont.
